Kewaunee Student Broadcast

In November, some Kewaunee Video and Broadcast students, along with Ms. Derenne, applied to be the official videographers for the Wisconsin Association of School Board’s State Education Convention.   Guess what?  They won.

On Wednesday, January 22nd,  the team of Henry Annen, Toby Kunkel, and Blake Temme arrived at school and met Ms. Derenne at 5:00am to drive to Milwaukee, beginning their two-day adventure.   The team gained a lot of real-world experience.   They were prepared and professional as they met and interviewed presenters and attendees of the convention, including State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jill Underly, and Governor Evers.   They filmed the breakout sessions, and two keynote presentations focusing on leadership and the power of a positive mindset.

On Wednesday evening, the team did get a chance to  spend some time relaxing, organizing footage, and then attended a Milwaukee Admirals game where they got to meet the mascot, Roscoe.  It was a fun few hours of relaxation and friendship between the fun but stressful hours of filming.

All of the attendees of the convention that talked to Ms. Derenne commented on how professional and respectful the young men were as they worked tirelessly throughout the event. By the time the group left for home Thursday evening, they were exhausted, and ready to be home, but also reflected on the presentations, talking about what they gained from the, and they also discussed the next steps in the process, editing all of the footage into a five minute highlight reel.
