This year SkillsUSA held their National Leadership and Skills Championships in Atlanta, Georgia from June 24th through June 28th at the Georgia World Congress Center. This competition featured over 6,000 state champions from across the country competing in 115 different competitions. In attendance at this year’s event were over 16,000 people including over 2,000 business and industry partners that helped make this competition possible.
Representing Kewaunee and the state of Wisconsin at this year’s national competition was Coy Kleiman competing in CNC 3-Axis Milling Programmer. His competition featured several days of knowledge, skill, and programming tests where Coy was able to demonstrate that he is highly skilled, and one of the most talented young professionals in his respected field.
Coy was the overall gold medal winner and national champion in this event. As a part of his prize package, he won a $5,000 scholarship sponsored by the Gene Haas Foundation. We would like to congratulate Coy on this hard earned and well deserved achievement. We would also like to thank SkillsUSA, the Gene Haas Foundation, and all others that helped make this possible along with those that provided the guidance and support needed for Coy to develop his skill set including his family, instructors at NWTC, and JR Metalworks.
